Library Giving Day is coming up on Wednesday April 10, and who benefits when you donate to the Foundation & Friends?
You’ll be supporting all kinds of programs at the Santa Clara City Library when you donate to the Foundation & Friends, including but not limited to:
- The Summer Reading Program is for everyone, but it especially benefits students, who of course have the summer off school. Students who don’t read over the summer can suffer a loss in their reading level. But that’s offset when they read 6 or more books over the summer. So the Summer Reading Program especially helps students keep up their education when school’s out.
- Comic Con is a fun, community building program that also introduces people to graphic novels, which can be a great way to get into reading for anyone who might be resistant to more traditional types of literature.
- The Emma Kaliterna author event, which happens every spring. A children’s author comes to visit, gives a talk, and we give away books. This is a great event for anyone who wants to learn about children’s books, and, of course, folks who receive the free book.
So many of the programs we support are about spreading literacy or encouraging people to keep up their reading and writing skills. If you donate to the Santa Clara City Library on Library Giving Day, you’ll help support all of the people who benefit from all the classes and events we support around the library.
Please donate on Wednesday April 10!
