Another favorite 2022 thing: after two years of low-key summer reading, the summer reading concerts were back!
We love it when the Library hosts weekly summer reading concerts and performances. They’re a great draw to the library, and once patrons are in the library they’re more likely to sign up for summer reading. Which is great! Summer Reading helps stop what’s called the summer slide – the decline in students’ literacy skills during the school break. So if the library can draw more people with these concerts, literacy skills improve throughout the community.
Plus, they’re just fun.
