Check out this old article that was returned in a book last month! From the librarian who scanned it in:
The attached newspaper article from March 5, 1955 was returned inside a library book today. Frances Klune, Santa Clara’s first City Librarian is in the photo along with an 83 year library user and a young mom with her son. The library is described as being at City Hall, so this must have been before Mission Library opened later that year. The young woman in the photo is described as “Mrs. Harry McGuire, an Australian War Bride”. Interestingly, the toddler in the photo is now in his sixties and still has a library account here. The article was apparently written to promote “California Library Week.”
