Astronomy and kids. What could be better?

galileoscopes

Last spring, we helped the Youth Services department buy 48 Galileoscopes. What’s a Galileoscope? It’s a small mass-produced refractor telescope, designed with the intention of increasing public interest in astronomy and science. But… you have to build it yourself. From a kit.

With 48 scopes, Youth Services will be able to host two family programs. Each family will get to build and take home their scope. We are also planning to hold the program during a time when Jupiter is visible during the evening, so families can actually see the four Galilean moons, just like Galileo observed 500 years ago!

Keep an eye out for these programs!
