Bookselling Operations and Volunteer Manager
The Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends (SCCLFF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich life-long learning by supporting the City’s Libraries through supplementing public funding to expand and enhance the Santa Clara City Library’s programs and services. We raise funds, in part, by selling donated books through Internet sales, on-site book sales and at our bookstore in the Library’s Central Branch. We are looking for a forward-thinking leader to manage a large team of volunteers and run our bookselling operations. This position is part of a three-person team based at Santa Clara City Library’s Central Branch.
Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee the bookselling team to make sure donations are being processed quickly and efficiently
- Ensure that we are maximizing use of space and selling books for maximum prices
- Effectively manage a large team of volunteers
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Have a drive to meet sales goals
- Help expand current book sales to the branch libraries and potentially other venues
Skills Desired:
- Nonprofit operations experience
- Recruiting, training, supervising and evaluation of volunteers
- Tracking volunteer hours and using the data to create reports
- Sales experience in a nonprofit or retail setting
- Ability to meet sales goals
- Experience managing volunteers with a volunteer-centric philosophy and high emotional intelligence
- Ability to analyze effectiveness of current operations and implement changes when warranted
- Flexible and creative thinker
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office, experience with database, CRM, and social media platforms
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Typical work schedule is 20 hours/week, including occasional evening and weekend hours. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Benefits: Two weeks PTO and 24 hours sick leave per year. Send a cover letter and resume to director@lovethelibrary.org.
