This is so exciting!

Ellin Klor, family literacy librarian with Read Santa Clara, has been named runner-up for the 2016 Toyota Family Literacy Teacher of the Year Award! With the award comes a $5,000 grant to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends to support Read Santa Clara, the Santa Clara City Library’s adult literacy program. The $5,000 grant will fund new family literacy programs by Read Santa Clara at Scott Lane Elementary School located in Santa Clara.

The Family Literacy Teacher of the Year Award is given by the National Center for Families Learning. The award recognizes school or community-based teachers who are passionate about engaging families and who demonstrate exemplary practices. Ellin’s work with Read Santa Clara was recognized for its continuing programs for teen parents, migrant and homeless families, promoting reading and early learning.
