Early volunteers in our now-former bookstore

early volunteer photo from an old Friends of The Santa Clara City Library bookstore

One of our longest-serving volunteers shared this photo with me of some of the original Foundation & Friends volunteers at the bookstore that we used to have on El Camino Real.

What, you say? The Foundation & Friends Bookstore wasn’t always in the Central Park Library? Nope. We were founded in 2001, and Central Park Library was torn down and rebuilt from 2001 – 2004; our first executive director, Jack Alotto, found someone to donate this space to us. Thus, we were able to sell books and raise money to start helping out the library!

A huge thank you to whomever donated the space to us and to all of the volunteers who helped us get off the ground!

**Updated: Nancy & Tom Biagini donated the space. A huge thanks to them for making this possible!
