Giving Tuesday: In Our Own Words

In Our Words

The Mission Library is correctly called the Mission Library and Family Reading Center. They drive the Read Santa Clara program, which works with adults and families in Santa Clara to become better readers. The winners of the annual writing contest (which is part of Read Santa Clara) are published in In Our Own Words.

To quote:

The stories in this book speak of joy and sorrow, memories of the past and hope for the future. They were written by 54 authors, as diverse as the community in which we live. All of them have one thing in common: they are adults who have carved out time in their busy lives to learn how to become better readers and writers.

The Foundation & Friends pays the printing costs for In Our Own Words. It’s a big deal for the authors and their friends and family to see what they’ve written! In print! They would not be so proud and excited without your support.

#GivingTuesday is on Tuesday December 1st! We want you to donate money to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends that day. Of course the money you give to the Foundation & Friends buys books and DVDs. But it also funds other wonderful things, like the In Our Own Words publication.

Please donate on December 1st. If you donate more than $150 that day, your name will be entered into a drawing for a football from the 49ers signed by Reggie Bush. Thanks for your support!
