#GivingTuesday is on Tuesday December 1st! We want you to donate money to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends that day. Of course the money you give to the Foundation & Friends buys books and DVDs. But it also funds other wonderful things. In the days leading up to December 1st, we’re going to highlight a number of the other programs and items that your donations buy for the library.
The Foundation & Friends likes to say that we provide the icing on the cake for the Santa Clara City Library. Some of that icing comes in the form of celebrations for the patrons – the above photo is from the Mission Library’s 60th Anniversary. One of the many programs we helped fund that day was a reptile petting zoo… which allowed one of our patrons to wear this amazing snake. (Confession: I could never do this, which is why I find this photo so striking.)
Celebrations like this are important because celebrations are fun! They give us time to reflect on the library and everything it does for the community. The Mission Library has been around for 60 years, serving the Santa Clara and Silicon Valley communities. Northside is new and has only been open for a little over a year, but they add so much to their community. It’s wonderful to be able to celebrate everything our libraries do!
Your donations make these celebrations possible! Please donate on December 1st. If you donate more than $150 that day, your name will be entered into a drawing for a football from the 49ers signed by Reggie Bush. Thanks for your support!
