Thank you for your support of Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends. The Library is important to you, your family, your friends, and your neighbors. Libraries are places of learning, community, acceptance, and discovery. All branches – Mission Library, Northside Library, Central Park Library, and the Bookmobile – are vital parts of Santa Clara.
Mission Branch Summer Highlights!
The difference the renovation made was fully realized this summer. Nearly every day from June through August, the library was a busy and vital connection point in the community.
Many people rediscovered the Mission Branch this summer through the ‘Lunch at the Library’ program. In partnership with the SCUSD and Second Harvest Food Bank, a free and nutritious lunch was made available to all children and adults every weekday. The program started slowly with just a few families, but by the end of the summer, 300 people were coming to have lunch each day. This program truly brought the neighborhood together.
The Summer Reading Program’s theme was ‘Summer of Discovery’. Each day after lunch, Mission staff created a hands-on, engaging activities to help children understand basic scientific concepts like sound, magnetism, and electricity. The Children’s Discovery Museum and Traveling Tide Pools put on presentations as well. It was fantastic to see them so excited about coming to the library.
Santa Clara City Libraries truly help create stronger communities and neighborhoods in addition to helping people of all ages discover their love of learning and achieve their goals. Your year-end gift will provide more people the opportunity to find their place in the community and to learn more about the world around them.
Your gift creates brighter futures for the children, families and adults in our community.
A donation of:
- $300 will help support a Garden Program;
- $600 will support a series of Science Talks;
- $1,000 could support the purchase of books for new readers in our Family Literacy Program.
These are just three of many activities your donation could make possible in 2020. We ask that you consider making the most generous donation you can.
Thanks for all you do!
Warm regards,
