Preservation Hall Jazz Band Concert, December 15th at 2pm in the Redwood Room

The Library is hosting the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, direct from the New Orleans French Quarter. Preservation Hall was founded in 1961 to nurture, perpetuate, and promote the traditional New Orleans jazz art form. The legendary players are long gone now, but the Hall is still in business and the Band continues to tour world-wide. The founding artists passed on the lessons of their music to a younger generation of musicians who now follow in their footsteps. New blood, however, is being injected into the touring band, as is exemplified in the recent Preservation Hall CD, “That’s It.” Join us in the holiday season for this New Orleans music, which embodies a joyful, timeless spirit!

You can see and hear one of the songs off their new album

Thank you to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends for making this afternoon holiday concert possible. Following this event, the Band will perform at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco at 8:00 p.m.
