Support ESL and more when you donate to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends

The Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends is honored to support the library’s ESL (English as a Second Language) Conversation Club.

What is the ESL Conversation Club? It’s a place where adults who are not comfortable speaking English can come and practice.

This program is the heart of the community. At least that’s what it feels like to me. We have immigrants arriving all the time. Some come with little to no English to folks with PhDs from their home countries. They all have something in common. The need for more conversational English. The library is here for that and with a little extra! – Hilda Lopez, librarian

ESL also teaches American traditions and customs, from pumpkin carving to Easter egg hunts to idioms. The students look forward to this weekly gathering and we are doing our very best for them. A lot of our students have befriended each other and they make plans for lunch or dinners with their families regularly. The library is their family.

Your year-end donation helps these ESL classes to continue, along with more classes and events at the library!

Your gift of $50 could buy supplies for one small ESL event. Your gift of $250 could support an ESL Thanksgiving celebration. Donations of any size make a difference!

Please donate today. Your gift creates brighter futures. Without you, nothing we do would be possible.

Thanks for all you do!
