It’s almost time for the Historic Home Tour! This Santa Clara institution is in its 41st year, the Mission Branch Library will be open during the tour for refreshments and rest, and this year, weather-permitting, there will be a Holiday Classic Car Cruise!
From the Historic Home Tour:
[The Historic Home Tour] is scheduled for Friday, December 6th, 6-10 p.m. and Saturday, December 7th, noon to 5 p.m. Four private homes plus the Mission Branch Library will be on this year’s tour. Weather-permitting, a Holiday Classic Car Cruise, coordinated by the non-profit SCPOC (Santa Clara Parade of Champions) organization and featuring many vintage vehicles will take place in the Old Quad from 2-4 p.m. on the Saturday of the Home Tour. An opportunity drawing and refreshments will also be provided by the SCPOC in the Community Room of Mission Library during the tour. Musicians will be performing in the Mission Library Community Room during much of the tour.
The architectural styles featured this year include Italianate, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman. Three of the homes date back earlier than 1906 but one of the homes is a circa 1938 Vernacular Spanish Eclectic cottage. One of the homes once was owned by the man for whom Haman School is named. Learn about the history of the Library, City Plaza Park and its Gazebo when you visit Mission Library.
Tickets are on sale at the Historic Home Tour’s website, and you can also buy them in person at Illusive Comics & Games in Franklin Mall and at the Antiques Colony on West San Carlos Street.
