Why I Love the Library, a note from our Board Vice-President

What do you love about the library, asked by The Santa Clara City Library foundation and friends
I live close to the Northside Library and ever since its opening my family and I have been regular visitors to the library. During pre-Covid-19 times, our favorite Saturday routine was to have brunch in the nearby restaurants and walk into the library where my kids enjoyed the different programming and events that the library offered while I got some time to read.
Over the years, my kids have loved the various events that the library offered – magic show, puppet show, bubble show, daddy daughter dance, Diwali events, Lunar New Year events, summer reading to name a few. My pet peeve is that my kids always check out more books than what they can realistically read or carry on their walk back (a good problem in my opinion!). My wife and I have also loved the various thoughtful and relevant adult programs related to parenting, selecting schools, and developing professionally.
For our family, the library has been much beyond books – it has been a place of learning, networking, community building, entertainment, and a place to work. It has been the fulcrum of a lot of things we do and for all these reasons I love the library.
